The Author of this novel is John Bellairs this was his first childrens book.  He based this book off of his child life or what he wanted his child life to be in Marshall, Michigan where the book took place.  He's written several adult books like the Pedant, the Shuffly and The face in the Frost those are his best adult books.  He grew up in Marshall, Michigan.  Now he lives in Haverhill, Massachusetts with his wife Priscilla, there son frank and a piece of the elm tree under which george washington took comand of the American Army.  Thats just a little bit about the author.
